Have you ever noticed a white substance appearing on your brick? That white substance is not only common, but has a name – efflorescence. And it can be found both inside and outside.
Efflorescence is a crystalline salt deposit, appearing white or gray in color, that remains on the surface of brick, concrete, stone, stucco, or other building surfaces after it comes in contact with water which then evaporates.
Tuckpointing is a word you may have heard in relation to masonry work, but aren’t sure exactly what it is.
