Frequently Asked Questions

You asked, we answered.

Q: How does this process work?

A: You can contact us by e-mail, phone (call or SMS), through our website form, or by sending a message on social media to inquire about work needing done. We sometimes can quote based off of photos/information you provide, otherwise we will go to your home to see the issue in person. After a quote is agreed upon, your job will be scheduled for the next available time, as weather permits, and your job will be completed. Payment will be made upon completion of work. Most jobs do not require a deposit unless the material is extra costly that must be purchased ahead of time for the job.

Q: What is the cost?

A: Cost will vary based on the specific job, the amount of work needed to be done, the time involved, the cost of materials, the need for specialized equipment, and access to the work area (particularly when it comes to chimneys).

Q: How long does it take to get the work done?

A: We try to get work done as soon as we can. Usually jobs will be completed within 2-4 weeks of a signed quote, although weather can impact the schedule and it depends on the size of the project.

Q: What payments do you take?

A: We prefer personal checks or cash, but can run credit cards, though you will pay an extra 3% processing fee.

Q: Is there a warranty?

A: We want our customers to feel as confidant in our work as we do, so we offer a 5-year warranty on repairs and 10-year warranty on total rebuilds and new builds. If our work fails within those warranty periods, we ask that our customers reach out to us so we can come out and see what happened and make things right. NOTE: Any additional changes made to our work by customer (i.e. adding railings to step treads, painting masonry, etc.) will void warranty, as this can affect the integrity of the masonry, especially if done wrong.

Q: Do my steps/chimney have to be rebuilt?

A: There are times when the steps or chimney are in such bad shape they cannot be safely repaired and must be torn down and completely rebuilt. However, whenever possible, we try to do repairs or partial rebuilds to help give our customers the most cost-effective solution as long as it is safe to do so and we are confident these repairs will hold up over time and not cause issues down the line for our customers.

Q: What causes bricks to need repaired?

A: Birthdays. Every year that goes by, particularly through harsh Ohio winters, it can cause mortar to break down as it gets older and weathered. If it is not properly taken care of and tuckpointed when the mortar begins to decrease, it can cause bricks to become loose and damaged, which leads to need for further intervention. Luckily, no matter how badly the damage, there are solutions to get your brick work looking new again.

Q: What is tuckpointing?

A: Tuckpointing is the process of filling in missing mortar to avoid further damage when age and weather cause a weakening of joints between the bricks. Masons will often use a grinder to remove damaged mortar before filling in fresh mortar to ensure a solid bond.

Q: What areas do you work in?

A: Though we are based out of Mahoning County, and do most of our work in this area, we will do work all over Northeast Ohio. These areas include Akron, Alliance, Boardman, Canfield, Canton, Cleveland, Cuyahoga Falls, Deerfield, Fairlawn, Hartville, Hudson, Kent, Louisville, Massillon, North Canton, Ravenna, Rootstown, Salem, Sebring, Streetsboro, Warren, Youngstown, and everywhere in between. When in doubt, ask us if we will come to your area.

Q: Do I have to be home while the work is being done?

Because much of the work is being done to the outside of the house, you often don't need to be there while we do the work. If we need access to the inside of the home, such as for work on fireplaces or basement foundations, you will need to be there. We do prefer our customers are there at the completion of the work so we can make sure they are satisfied with what has been done before we collect payment. We will also need a water source to mix the mortar.
